The annual blowout for Central Indiana trombonists

Details

Under the expert baton of Rusty Briel, Executive Director of the Indiana State School Music Association, we will perform a wide variety of selections.  Many of the selections are suitable for students early in their study of music, and other selections will provide a challenge even to advanced trombonists.

Our main goals are to have fun, enjoy beautiful music, and share the spirit of the season.  This is also an excellent opportunity to learn valuable tips and techniques as Mr. Briel conducts the rehearsal and performance.

There are no fees for participation, although donations are welcome.  The Arts Council of Indianapolis kindly provides the performance space.  The only requirement is that you play a trombone of some fashion.  Slide trombones are most traditional, but valve trombones are also welcome.  All members of the trombone family (tenor, bass, contrabass, alto, and soprano) will fit right in.

The concert will be at the Artsgarden, which is the large glass structure that spans the space above the intersection of Washington and Illinois Streets in the heart of downtown Indianapolis.  There is ample parking nearby in the Circle Center Mall garages.  They usually have low rates on the weekend.

The rehearsal will be at the Law Offices of Barnes and Thornburg, 11 South Meridian Street. Enter the B&T offices and check with Security for the conference room location.

Low-cost parking is available in the underground Circle Center Mall parking garage, accessible from Washington and Maryland streets.  See map.

Jingle Bones kicks off an afternoon of festive music.  We will be followed immediately by the Indianapolis Chamber Winds, and then the French Horn ensemble  Please invite your friends, family, and colleagues to come hear all three groups.

Students: We will have a competition for the most festive attire and for the trombone with the best holiday decoration.  You can download a few of the musical selections from this page in order to practice before the event.

Parents: This will be a great opportunity to do some holiday shopping at the Circle Center Mall.

Updates to the plan will be posted at jinglebones.org.  Please check the website before coming on December 11.  If you have any questions, please call Craig Parmerlee at (317) 291-9506 or email craig@parmerlee.com.
