The annual blowout for Central Indiana trombonists

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this event only for central Indiana trombonists?

No.  All trombonists are welcome.  At past events we have had participants from Fort Wayne, Toledo, South Bend, Terre Haute, Chicago, and Louisville.

What if I am a beginner?

Some of the music we perform is within the reach of beginners.  Some is more challenging, but you can learn a lot by sitting next to a more advanced player.  Most years about half the participants are school-aged students.  Advanced trombonists look upon this as a brotherhood (or sisterhood) and are eager to share tips and techniques with less advanced players.

Is there a participation fee?

No.  We may consider fees in future years, but there will be no fees for participating in this year's event.

How long has Jingle Bones been going on?

This event dates back to the early 1990s when a group of trombonists got together in Evansville, Indiana.  The Jingle Bones tradition has been going strong in Indianapolis since 1998.  We look forward to helping trombonists in other communities develop Jingle Bones events in their areas.  To get other Jingle Bones events started, contact Craig Parmerlee at (317) 291-9506 or email craig@acticalc.com.
